It’s that time again, a New Year and new goals for many. We always see many great intentions at the beginning of the year. For some, goals and dreams come to fruition with consistency and hard work. For many others it does not work out. Why is it that some people thrive and some just try to survive? Here are a few pointers to help you keep your goals a priority. Set Goals with a purpose and with a why in mind. Setting goals without knowing why you want to attain them is like going to work and not knowing what your job is. Not much will get accomplished right? So set goals that you have reasons to get excited about or whys that will motivate you to keep working towards your goals. For example, I want to lose 15 lbs or I want to be as strong as I was when I was 20. Why is it you want this? Write it down and look at it every day. I want to lose 15lbs because I will feel 100x better about myself. I will have more confidence and I will be able to play longer with my kids. Or I want to feel as strong as I was in my 20’s because I felt unstoppable and I was in the best shape of my life. I want to feel like I can do anything with ease and that nothing will stop me no matter what gets in my way. Know your why!

2. Find leverage– most people need leverage to get things done or to attain certain goals. Example: I will not be able to play in the mother-daughter soccer game if I don’t lose this weight. I will not be able to go on a running trip with my friends if I do not put in the time to train for the run. Find something that will give you leverage so you have a must to achieve your goal.

3. Change your shoulds to MUSTS– Your list of should does that relate to your ultimate goal must be changed to must-dos. I should work out this morning, I should pack my lunch, I should not eat sugar. Change these should dos to must-dos and see what happens.

4. Take Massive and Immediate Action– When you set a goal take action immediately. Take action before you leave the spot you set your goal. Whether this is making a phone call to book an appointment. Or a phone call to your local gym to book a class. Or sending an email about a business idea. Take action immediately or chances are it will be forgotten. Make your action MASSIVE. Instead of just emailing your gym call and set up an appointment. Call and talk to someone directly about your business idea immediately.

Remember it’s the actions you take that will create who you are and who you will become. What you focus on is what you become. Take MASSIVE ACTION this year! And it’s up to you to make it the best yet !
