Results come to people who do the work even when they don’t want to.

How is it that some people can get results and some people cannot? We know that a healthy environment and habits will get you long term results as opposed to trying to use willpower. We know that we will stay motivated when we see results or progress. Progress will keep you motivated.

How is it that some people make progress and some do not? It comes down to consistency. It means putting in the work even when you don’t want to or when things are not going in your favour. Those that succeed stick to the plan through the tough times. Even if the workout is only done at 50% that’s better than 0%. Progress is made when you can do the things you need to, even when you do not feel like it.

People quit gyms because they couldn’t make it in when they were supposed to because something came up, they had to work late, they were tired or they didn’t feel well. The times they did not feel like going to the gym they didn’t, and it affects progress. No progress was made. But those that can still show up even if they had a crappy day or if there is a snowstorm outside, those are the people who are going to see progress.

Anyone can do it when the circumstances are perfect. But only 20% can do it when times are tuff. It all comes back to consistency. Don’t worry if you won’t be able to give 100% at the workout, if you just show up that is a win. Showing up for 12 workouts a month at 50% is better than showing up for four workouts a month at 100%. Four workouts x 100% = 400%. 12 workouts x 50% equals 600%. I would take 600% over 400% any day.

“I regret that workout” – no one ever.

Even if you are having a bad day remember that your workout can change your mood and change the outcome of the remainder of the day as well as affect the people around you.

Show up consistently, even when you don’t want to and you will make progress.
